Sources and Methodology

AutoPDP uses a source hierarchy designed for automotive engineering and regulatory work.

Preferred sources

  1. Government gazettes, ministries and regulatory authorities
  2. Official standards organizations such as BIS, ISO, SAE and UNECE
  3. Recognized test and approval agencies such as ARAI, ICAT, CIRT and GARC
  4. Official technical organizations such as AUTOSAR and COVESA
  5. OEM or technology-provider documentation for product-specific technical behavior

Industry articles may provide context, but they do not replace a primary source for a mandatory requirement.

Regulatory verification method

  • Record the document or notification identifier exactly as published.
  • Identify the issuing authority, market, vehicle category and legal status.
  • Separate issue date from effective date.
  • Distinguish draft, final, watchlist and interpretation records.
  • Link the official source for every public Draft or Final record.
  • Record the last date on which the source and status were checked.
  • Downgrade or withhold a record when its official source cannot support a final claim.

Reference format

References identify the organization, document or page title, publication or issue date when available, last verified date and URL. Access restrictions or licensing may limit how much of a standard can be quoted; AutoPDP summarizes rather than reproducing protected standards.

Engineering interpretation

Practical actions are derived from the cited requirement, the vehicle-development lifecycle and the author's professional experience. They are recommendations for planning, not a guarantee that an approval authority will accept a particular test plan or evidence set.
